Hello, everyone. I'm Beatrix, and this must be my third time speaking here at MindStone. So, yeah, I think I can call myself a regular now. Maybe.
So those who are meeting me for the first time, I'm Beatrix. I have my background in digital marketing, having worked on the agency's side for over 15 years, having worked with all these big brands. And recently, I'm spending my time playing with AI tools, experimenting with AI tools, and just trying to speed up everyday marketing work.
And today, what I've planned for you is about the new deep research capabilities that many of the AI tools have come up recently, because actually I got very, very excited. when this function came out because research is one of the everyday tasks in marketing and it is really, really time consuming.
So today I will show you a few tools. We will conduct a deep research and then we will convert the actual results of the research into a more digestible, presentable format.
Also using Gamma, but we will use other tools as well.
1For the research itself, I have used ChatGPT actually to brainstorm ideas and it came up with an idea to do a research on the top five consumer pain points in UK banking apps. I thought that this is a brilliant idea. I can imagine UK banks paying a huge amount of money to consulting companies to conduct similar research.
So, in my prep, I already prepped the prompt for this research, so it's, as you can see, It's not me. I used ChatGPT to write the prompt itself.
So we want to identify and summarize the five most significant pain points using customer reviews and feedback.
And I'm only using three tools today.
So the tool that you can see on the screen is u.com. I don't know whether you have heard of it, but today we will use this research agent which allows us to conduct research for free.
So let me start this one because usually it takes some time.
And actually, ChatGPT also has a deep research function, but that one is only available in the paid plans. So for this demo, I deliberately wanted to use the three tools.
And as you can see, it started the process. We can see the workflow. We can see thinking.
There is another great alternative for us, which is Gemini's deep research tools. Gemini also, you know, Gemini is Google's AI tool. It also gives us five researches for free, if I'm correct, per month. And it is amazing.
So I have prepared the prompt and let me run the prompt in Gemini as well.
And actually, if you start a research, these tools will show the entire thinking of the model, which is mind-blowing in my opinion. Usually it takes a few minutes,
So while the two tools are working, I would use our time and play a quick bingo with you. OK.
And this is the reason why I haven't asked whether you have used u.com or Gemini before. So have a look at the screen. These are all AI tools. And count how many of these tools have you ever tried.
We have 16 tools on the screen. I can give you a few seconds. Please have your number in your head. So how many have you tried?
My first question would be that please raise your hand if you have tried at least five. Okay, okay. Dan, no, no, no, stay your hands up, okay? I want to see all hands up, okay.
Keep your hand up if you have used more than seven. Okay, more than 10. Okay, more than 12. Okay, I can see only two, am I correct?
How many? Ah, you don't count. Okay, so we are at 12, I lost count. More than 14.
OK. We have one hand. We have our winner.
What's your number? Big round of applause. OK. May I ask you, what is your number? 15 or all of them?
All of them. All of them. OK.
Josh? 50.
I know. I know. I haven't tried .
You lost at your own event. I know. That's so cute.
Which one? Which one do we need to show you? Ideogram.
I know someone here in the room, Barry. Barry, how are you? Where are you? Barry needs to show you an ideogram. He is a master.
Okay. So, and your prize is free beer at the end of the talks. Congrats.
Okay.
Let's get back to our research. I really hope that it's done.
So u.com, as you can see, it has finished our research. It looks pretty structured to me, so we can see one pain point with evidence, examples, recommendations for improvement, second one, and so on.
Let's have a look at Gemini. Yes, see, Gemini is still working. Gemini tends to be a bit slower.
However, just in my experience, Gemini tends to use... It's done. Tends to use about... What is it? About... 3-400 websites, which is crazy.
Okay, both researches are done. Then I have prepared another follow-up prompt, which will help us to structure the research into a more digestible, presentable format.
I asked it to create an outline for a presentation in eight slides. The reason for the eight slides specifically, because Gamma, the presentation app that Nick already showed you, allows you to create five slides for free. And as I said, I wanted to show you free tools today.
But also there is another reason. Actually, do we want to read longer presentations, more than eight slides? No, we don't.
So I think that's...
Perfect, let's do that with Gemini as well. Okay, so here we have our presentation outline, which there must be the copy. Then we will head to Gamma.
and create new. As Nick already showed you, I might go into a bit more details on the settings. So we just copy paste the content.
You can choose a presentation format. We want to keep the traditional presentation style, so that's fine. But now we will stick to the presentation.
I would also Draw your attention to the social media formats, or even the document formats. You can create any for any document, any social media. You can specifically create a LinkedIn carousel as well, which is actually the best format for LinkedIn for anyone using LinkedIn. Carousels are the ones which get the most engagement.
Then what we want, which is important, so if you copy paste your content, then you would choose Preserve with the text content. Because if it remains generate, that it will rewrite your content, which we don't want to right now. So we would click Preserve, Output in English.
For the images, that's also an interesting setting. I would recommend using Automatic. If you choose the setting, if you select automatic, then it will search for images on the internet. So it will actually royalty-free images and AI images as well.
And we want a traditional presentation. So let's just click Continue. We will select any of these teams.
As Nick said, if you subscribe, then you can set your own company brand identity, but we are on the free one. So I just randomly selected one for now. While it generates the slides, let's get back to Gemini.
And let me show you how Gemini's research is slightly different. So as you can see, the original research is more lengthy. But what is really, really great about Gemini specifically that As you can see, it lists all the sources that it used in the report, which I think is just amazing for fact-checking, for further work, and obviously referencing the resources.
Also, if you click Export to Docs, you can directly export to a Google Doc, which comes very handy.
And the last trick I wanted to show you is the audio overview. 1Did you know that you can generate a podcast format with Gemini or Google?
For this one, You can either directly click on this Generate Audio Overview, or you can copy the content and go to this other amazing tool from Google, which is called Notebook Alarm. And I will show you this one, because this one has even more functions.
So if we go here, we come. create a new project we want to paste the content of our research and then we will generate a podcast format but also with this tool we could add more resources And we could generate a study guide, an FAQ, a briefing doc, a timeline, as you can see on the left. So various formats from the same document.
It really, really helps you to consume large amount of information. The audio overview, and I don't know about you, but recently, I personally really don't like reading.
So I personally prefer the audio format because you can just plug in your earpods and you can just listen to the content. I find it much easier during your commute or, I don't know, during chores. And the quality of this format is really, really,
scary good. But as you can see, it might take a few minutes. So just to save some time for us, I will go to my backup plan and I have pre-generated this whole thing.
So just let me show you how the audio format sounds from this research. We are doing a deep dive into UK banking apps, specifically all the things that are driving users crazy. We've got a ton of research to unpack, user reviews, expert opinions, and even some real world outage nightmares.
So if you're in the UK and you use these apps, get ready to feel seen. Yeah, it's not a pretty picture. Let's kick things off with the elephant in the room, IT outages.
It's almost comical at this point. Payday rolls around and boom, another app goes down. Barclays, Lloyds, Nationwide, TSB, HSBC, they've all had their fair share of downtime recently. Yeah, it's a pretty systemic issue.
What we're seeing are the repercussions of years of underinvestment in the core IT infrastructure. A lot of these banks are still running on these.
Okay, so it's 15 minutes. it sounds like an actual podcast conversation. Scary, isn't it? Sounds very real, right? Okay, so,
Thank you so much for your attention. This is what I wanted to show you today, how to use this amazing deep research function.
Also, just to mention, Perplexity also has this same deep research function, which is only available in the pro paid plan.
If you are interested in seeing more of my AI explorations, then please feel free to follow me on LinkedIn.
And thank you so much for your attention. And I don't know whether we have time for questions or if you have any. Thank you.
