so notebook lm it's a google tool i will basically be showing you live how it's going how it's working so if we have any more issues you'll have to bear with me again but hopefully um internet connection will be working because that's basically the only thing we we need to do
uh so when you open the tool i have the the pro version uh free version also handles most of the things that i will be showing you today i'm not sure really of the of the limits and stuff because i've been using the the pro one for uh for months um but i think uh with the free one you can you can start this try this home and then uh if needed then you know buy the subscription so basically
when you open a new notebook you know this window will pop out i like to um turn it off before to to name the name the notebook so we'll just name this one test here i want to show you a couple of things and then I will move back to a couple of notebooks that I already have just because just so we don't have to wait for certain processing and so on
I've read some statistics that basically say that we spend two and a half hours a day searching for information online so not just information that we don't know but also information that we know so you know you'll remember that Andre sent you
an email that something very important was in that email you'll go back to your inbox and search you'll search in your folders your g drive and so on and so on so where whole notebook lm uh showed
to be most useful to me is basically this information putting it all at one place helping me search it helping me use it for some other other purposes so when you go here to upload
and so on so here you can go on to add upload sources I'll go a step back so
sources they offer a couple couple of different options so you can upload sources here basically Basically, they're limited to some format, so you can use PDF, text, markdown and audio MP3.
You can drag them simply or just click here and upload them from your desktop. You can connect the whole tool to your Google Drive.
You can paste any URLs and the website if you want this tool to scrape whole websites to show information later.
You can also paste text, copy text.
this mp3 version also allows you to basically speak to it so you can add information in that way as well something that they have that is also very cool is discover sources so for example if you are putting in different
cooking recipes for example and you are missing some for desserts you can go here on discover sources you can search web or your Google Drive type in whatever you want to look for and then this source will will show up and you
can add it here so this is this is just the the beginning right i will go back now to one of my
existing ones to show you the rest so we have here something i'm doing my phd on the ai and governance and stuff like that so here i you can see i've uploaded a lot of different uh sources
these ones are all pdf here then here in this part i have this chat option this is very similar to
chat GPT now in this interface here I can talk to this this tool but the difference from chat GPT Gemini cloud and other ones is basically that will on it will only be looking at the sources here so either all of them if they're
all selected if I cancel you know all and just type in three of them then whatever we are typing here whatever we're talking about here it is only looking for the for in the sources here and information that is provided in them
I will select all of them now and then show you how I use chat. They have this
new configuration so you can you know select your conversational style you can put it to default if you're learning something like I am with my PhD you can choose the learning guide or you can even customize it so here you know you
have some of the examples here customize the style respond as a PhD student level suggest different roles pretend to be a role -playing game host and so on and so
so depending on what you want to use a tool for you can either customize your chat or use one of the options here i'm just going to use default for for the purpose here also you can choose the response length default one longer one shorter one i'll just leave it as it is as it is now
so now chat here one good thing here which is actually it's really good at doing is these
questions here it already suggests different questions you can ask so I'll just click on this one here so it's basically now searching all of my documents that I uploaded and finding an answer to a question that says what are
the primary risks associated with data press practices fueling surveillance capitalism and algorithmic discrimination it gives me all of the
answer right let's wait for it a second so if you see these numbers here it's basically citations whatever is saying here if I click on this one it will take me to this exact source and it will show me within the source where this
information is if I want to read more about it and then if I want to you know figure out this sentence change it a little bit and similar I can also you
know I don't have to use the questions down below I can type in some of my some
of my own questions uh tell me uh the biggest risks when it comes to ai in bosnia i uploaded some documents that are related to bosnia so let's see what it says while it's doing this okay here so it gives me the answer again it gives me all of the citations to the documents uh allows me to
to read more about it then you know to change it to ask more questions and so on and so on one important thing here when it comes to notebook LM is that it
doesn't save any of the conversations you have with it it doesn't use it doesn't use it for any training or so on or so on so if I just you know if I close this chat whatever I was doing and searching it will be gone so in order
not to happen that I can save this to note and then you see here it is now saved here if I like my note if I want my note now to be converted to a source so any other conversation that I have with it to be using that source as well
I can just go here and convert to a source and see it is adding it here now it's all here here it is it's alphabetically ordered so this is basically you know the very very very simple part but what is really good is
the information here that you find in this studio I've already done this
this before so we don't have to wait but for example if you click on flashcards here a flashcards you know those those cards for learning something basically very very American kind of kind of thing but you can choose number of cards you
can choose the level of difficulty you can choose the topics so if you for example I have a lot of information here on AI and on AI in Bosnia and if I know my test is coming and it will only be focusing on AI in Bosnia in media or in healthcare and so on and so on i can specify here to only provide flashcards related to these topics
and then what will it happen when i when i generate it which i already did here so it gives me these flashcards so now if you know i'm a student i'm learning something i can just go according to the alan turing institute's workbook what is the definition of an ai system based on what it does i can now you know answer by myself and then when i just click on it here I see the answer. So this way I can very easily check if I was right or wrong.
And I can, you know, choose many, many other ones. So this is really good for students.
I don't know if any of you is still studying or if you have kids home or something, but I think this is one of the ways where you actually use AI to help you learn and not to help you cheat on the exams.
By the way, I was talking with some high school students. They really impressed me and I was interested interested in how they use AI. Do they use it to cheat?
And they said they use it on the phone. So I was like, how? Don't they take your phones away?
They all have two phones. So basically teachers take their phones in the beginning of the class and they have another one. So yeah.
Another one which is also related to studying is this quiz here. So here it is.
Basically, just to go step back, if you want, you just click on it. And it takes a couple of minutes to generate it and then you have it here so if you go to
quiz here I won't be reading this but basically you know question answer not right it gives me correct answer here if I want more explanation I can go here and then in this chat box here it will give me more explanation with citations from the document so I can actually see read more about it learn more about it
and so on then I simply go to the next question and so on and so this is also not right okay let's do this not right anyways you got the point right so very
very useful for for studying I will show you some other examples not just like studying related but here I'm just using this one to show you all kinds of
options so this video overview where is video overview or let's go to mind map so this is now basically taking the main topic and sorting it down in a couple of
like subtopics so here I have a key concept introduction to AI ML and if this is the topic that I want to learn more about then I can simply you know go
here and then it will give me more options and so on and so on so I mean this is not again when I click on each of them it will take me back it will
show me all of the sources from all of these documents I can at any point on unselect sources so now you know all of the text related to the unsources that I've just
unselected will disappear from solutions and stuff like that reports also pretty good one
let me just see where it is slash cards this is the video why do I not see does anyone see no this is the video oh reports let's do it this way yeah so here if I want to now create report
from the documents that I have here I can choose some of the existing formats or I can create create my own format and actually give it you know topics heading subheadings and everything else let's just go white paper for example it is
now generating report while it is doing that I will show you a video do we have sound here or it's going to okay mm -hmm yes so I don't know why there is no sound but basically you can see the slides here that are switching and there
is an audio also happening here you can export these videos which I will not do now because it will you can share them okay so I wanted to show one really really really cool thing and i hope the sound works because if it doesn't work then i have to
try to explain it which is not going to be so cool so that was a video example only now this
is the audio example but it's not working okay let me try to explain this so basically now it has taken uh whatever is in this chat here which i have approved as my final content after you know know playing with this and it gives me two options it gives me an option to create a podcast from it
where you have two people talking to each other about the topics here so you know one person usually female voice will be like hey welcome everyone so today we'll be talking about ai in bosnia in media and another one another one will be okay you know what what exactly so they will
be talking to each other but the best thing is that i can join them i can request to join there There's a button where I just click basically join and then one of them will be like, hey, someone wants to join you. Welcome. Do you have any questions?
And then I can ask a question and they will immediately stop whatever the conversation they were having and then answer to my question. And it feels very, very natural. So it doesn't feel awkward in any way.
And just to show you how useful it is, for example, there's this guy, Andrej Karpaty. he is he has a couple of you know some of you may be heard of in a big big name in AI so he has his podcast on Spotify and if you check here audio is AI
generated by Google's notebook LM so he will go in notebook LM he will put different resources he will maybe record himself speaking at some of his notes and come up with the content that he's happy with but then instead of you know recording it in a studio and you know doing all the hustle that is required he'll just click there
record audio a podcast export it upload it to different platforms and so on and so on this is one of the really coolest features um it sucks that i cannot show it but it is it is what it is
um report um i don't know if this is now wi -fi or something but uh basically it will just give you the report that you were looking for in the format that you want you can use one of the the existing ones or you can create your own so this is one of the case that i'm using it actually
really using it for my phd and i use this example to show you different options when you get home you know it's enough to upload one resource and to try these options but now i want to show you
some other ways in which i'm using it so for example home manuals bucket you need to do this so this is just an example but i actually have a notebook with all of these so i have put all of the pdfs of different devices that i have home here you have a dryer oven washing machine my tv
my phone and so on and so on so if something gets broken basically i just go here and i'll be help my oven won't turn off what do i do it will search not the whole internet only these documents this tool where I've you know added only sources that are relevant so it will not be giving me answers from other ovens but from my specific oven
which I have home and then here it is it gives me a answer here and then you know obviously as always it gives me citations to the actual document where I can learn more but it already answered everything so you know in this case if
Bakir had this he could just be typing you know something doesn't work you know it won't mirror the screen it won't record it and it will find in the manuals what we need to do
so this is one of the really useful examples that i've been using another one here
uh is a recruitment uh so i don't do hr but often i have friends uh from abroad ask for you know mostly developers designers and so on and so on to help them find find people here uh but if you are actually i mean it's helpful to me as well but uh i can see it be see it be much more helpful to
people who are actually doing this so if you're an hr person hiring for a software development role someone who knows react whatever you can upload all of the cvs that you have here and then you can be asking uh different uh different questions i have to be careful with
what i'm searching because these are actual cvs of people so i don't want their names to to show up let's use one of the here what are the most common technical skills and cloud platforms across all included profiles so it will show me this so the examples here are
much more general but for example if you have an exact guy of who are you hiring you can upload that as a source so source which will say I am looking for 10 software development positions this is the technology these are the years of
experience location has to be this one this person has to speak English in German and Japanese and then instead of searching through all of these CVS and looking for information you can basically ask it here you can go tell me who are the five people
with uh longest uh years of experience who are the ten people who know react who are and so on and so on so it's it's really really useful there as well let's see which other example do i have
here or a home manuals building oh this is the uh so another one which i don't have here now because quite quite personal but it allows audio so you can basically turn on and you can speak to it so I I drive but very often I do a lot of different things and
sometimes I'll come up with one idea while doing one thing which I can actually use for another thing so you can either type it in here or you can just say it and record this as sources so then later if you need you know
instead of having like 500 screenshots in your phone which you still have to go and look for manually and then remember what i was trying to say here what was my idea and so on you can have it all in one you know just call it journaling or my thoughts or something and then
you can ask it to make sense of your thoughts in different ways you know help me expand on these topics yesterday i was telling you about this example related to this how can i use this for this task and so on and so on so uh there are many other ways in which uh which you can use it
this home manuals back here please when you get home do this I will stop here
because I've spent a lot of the time and we still have two speakers before pizzas arrive but I hope this was very helpful if someone has questions related now to this notebook LM you know feel free to ask me if not once pizzas arrive we can
talk in a more private way yes it's i mean obviously it's very best with with english i think all of the tools maybe water can tell us more later but uh and i use it a lot in english
but some things like phd because i have some things that i do in bosnian it's pretty good with bosnian as well the thing is with with our language is that sources are not so good you know type any AI topic related things to in our language is very very
limited yeah it's very good so I you know that I gonna to go back to you to like repurposing content so you can add a borders YouTube video to it and ask it to get the transcript from the video and then you can be like write a blog post
so you don't have to know anything about AI or any of the topics that photo is talking about in his videos but you can have these amazing blogs then once you have that blog you can make it into video you can make it into podcasts and
different things and even when you have this final podcast you can then again make a video out of it and you know do it all over again so it's really good to take one source and make you know ten different types of content from it which
I know for you know when you do digital marketing for clients you need content Lifespan of a content is like 3 to 4 days if I have right information. So you have to constantly produce something and this can save a lot of time. Yes?
Will it work if we put sources in Serbian and chat with them in Serbian? Yes, it works.
Some sources actually prevent notebook from using them. So when you upload them, for example here, they will become red. which means that even though they are here notebook will not be allowed to use
them but then what do you do you just open it you copy paste whatever text is you go into add you're going to copy the task and you paste the text here from the whole website or whatever source and then it still works so there are ways
ways around but it works okay good thank you guys sorry for waiting
