I was a very toxic person at least two to three years ago. Some of my friends told me I was a bit toxic, thinking always the glass of half empty.
And we are right now going through a period in our life where we are always talking about AI taking our jobs, Skynet getting turned online. We are going to disappear.
Nobody knows what's going to happen. Otherwise, we really don't know what's going to happen.
The taxes are going to rise.
So I called it the paradox of AI.
I will show some theoretical and some hands -on experience that we will go through, how we are going to navigate these fears in our life.
This is going to be a 15 -minute talk. My name is Rufat Erdem Sahin.
I'm like this race car.
I've worked in companies like Accenture, Microsoft, IBM, Goldman Sachs, Capgemini, all these companies that you guys see the big players in the market I'm like a race car driver that changes the brands all the time every six months to a year so I don't have that much of a
loyalty especially in the past but right now there is some kind of a transformation that's happening that race car was not that open -minded to open it is not very very easy so we are going to get
Let's see this Michael Bay kind of stuff, turn the car into a transformer with the AI, the artificial intelligence, with something more semantic. We are going to go through this kind of a transformation.
To be able to do this, we will come back to the main keyword, let go, more psychiatric keyword. 1We need to learn how to let go of our ideas, of our mindset.
We will go through it and do some hands -on, as I mentioned.
We are going through right now a deflation period. A deflation period means Elon Musk, fanboys, myself included, will come up and talk about how these Teslas are very good and we will have no drivers.
All the Ubers will go away and people will be out of a job. That is the deflation. People losing their jobs. There won't be any coders left. The jobs are going to go down, so they are going to deflate.
That is the main dark team right now. that is getting talked, open Bloomberg or CNN, you are going to reach either Rachel Reeves talking about taxes or you are going to see these jobs are going to go away. So that is the main thing that we see.
The fear is the main thing that we see because that is the easy sell for most of the news outlets. They are using the fear for the eyeballs. So we see that as a very, very easy sell for us.
What's happening right now is, I will argue that there is going to be a big inflation, meaning there is going to be 10 times more jobs, job role types, that is going to come about with AI, even though people will talk about deflation, there will be an inflation
and that is coming from the reality we are going to go through, why the inflation is going to come up and why there will be so much more jobs, so much more prosperity with with this opportunity that we will see.
So that is going to ride the wave for us.
The reason I'm talking about this is,
this is my birth date with the Apple II, with the Commodore, with the Atari. Once the computer got introduced,
my mother is a nuclear scientist. I have five engineers in my family, my grandfather, my father, my three uncles, all engineers.
I have seen this happening for us in the history. There is a convergence times that comes
when these machines came about people talk about these spreadsheets the clerks going away when people started using excel lotus one two three if some of you guys remember it they thought the clerks are gonna go away right now most of the people if you are a professional you are using
excel you are using a spreadsheet so more and more people will got the skills and will got roles that that is relating to these skills, which I call it a democratization of the skills. People are not just bonded to the clerks. Everybody is using these tools after the revolution happened for us.
As I mentioned, I worked in these big giants, Microsoft, IBM, these trillion -dollar companies. I had the chance to work for them. It looks like they are unbeatable.
if you go to 1980s 1990s the IBM was there right now we had this big six big seven these companies coming up these trillion dollar companies these companies I had a chance to work in most of them and I'm still working for some of them they create this fear for most of us but the reality is much
different than what we see what's going to happen is for us the positive thing is there's going to to be a big decentralization. There's going to be lots and lots of more opportunities
for lots of small businesses, lots of new companies coming up. Those big walled garden companies that we see right now,
the Facebooks, the Apples, the MVDs that we are going to see will become decentralized. There's going to be lots of new companies
that is going to emerge because of the AI, because how it is going to affect us. There is going to be a main term called unknown that people fear.
We are going to make that our friend in this age of decentralization. Those big companies will get decentralized into lots of small companies that's going to be in the marketplace.
We talk about these three guys in a garage in the US. You heard about Steve Jobs doing this in a garage. The garage is an American notion where you have lots of land, people have the garage to do a startup.
The garages are not mostly in the UK. I'm living in a flat in Petersfield, so most of the people in the UK don't have these three guys in a garage notion.
But right now, it is going to become a guy with an AI or a woman with an AI. It is going to change these companies, small companies. The state of those small companies will change.
It is going to change, and many people will get affected by this. So there's going to be a big shift happening.
We call this the innovation X.
The reason I say X is in 1000, we had zero skills. People had zero skills. Maybe you were able to fight. You were able to do basic skills.
Then with the Industrial Revolution, we became like an I, meaning we got good at one skill. We became a clerk. We became a horseman. We became an accountant.
Then the times has changed in 1990 with the computers. We became something called a T -shaped person. No one skill be able to talk to other skills. So we became T -shaped.
People became managers. Lots of mid -level roles got generated.
In 2010 to 2020, which I was able to ride that wave, we became M -shaped, meaning no multiple skills. skills, deliver those multiple skills, get six -figure jobs. I did those jobs for these big companies.
Right now that period is over. In Turkish we call it Ruhuna Fatiha. In English we say it rest in peace, meaning that term is over.
The people who are going to go through a period of X -shaped people, meaning being able to merge two different multiple skills skills at the same time and be able to deliver it.
So we are going to see this innovation that people are going to become much more X -skilled, not I -skilled or T -skilled or M -skilled, more X -skilled. They are going to be required to know more, to be able to do more from them.
We call this cross innovation. Why do we call it cross innovation?
innovation.
In 1980, 80 % of the population was working in the agriculture. In 100 years, in 1900s, the population went down to 40%.
Right now, only 20 % of the population is working for the agriculture.
So the number is going down, but it is going to change. What does
it mean that's going to change we do these ai meetups in reading there's a robotics company the guy that works there is utku they did this dragons dancing they are doing
robots with virtual reality somebody in sky in scotland will be able to put in a headset the apple vision headset that you guys go to the apple store and think that why this thing is not selling but Apple is putting in the front, will be able to put on a headset to their head and be able to farm in India, be able to farm in Brazil by using those teleoperators that is growing massively right now.
They are creating data models using the robots, being able to go to the field and be able to create the data and collect berries, which is a very, very big field. Maybe not many of the people know it right now. That's going to happen.
You guys saw these robots. They are doing the dishes at home.
That problem is a problem of machine learning, learning your home, learning homes in multiple different continents with teleoperators. So this kind of a cross -innovation is here.
If you guys are going to go and buy, go and buy it.
I called it a race. I'm working on this a lot.
The raises what we see as a problem.
Rapid AI increases skills expectations, meaning if we are going to become X -shaped, if somebody
in Chorlu, in Sky, in Bangladesh going to put that headset on and their job is to train a robot how to collect a berry, their skill set is exploding.
You cannot become an I -skilled person or a T -shaped person to be able to do it. You need to be an X -shaped person, understand machine learning, understand robotics, understand virtual reality to be able to deliver it.
So that is the main problem.
What I do is I create programs to be able to assess people to be able to do this AI transformation. Now I'm doing the AI transformation currently.
I did write the wave of the web transformation, the agile transformation. transformation.
I do workshops with people to be able to do this at real time, write a program.
Onur Alp did it like two months ago. He write a Flappy Bird app at real time. People saw it.
He didn't put too much input on writing the code, but he wrote the prompts. The Flappy Bird was working.
I'm doing the workshops workshops like that so anybody with no code they call it wipe programming could come in and do it
i talked to chat in a moment ago he said i'm doing the python but most of it is written by the co -pilot so that is the workshops people want end results and being able to write it easily
that is the workshop and the analysis is i'm selling the enterprises so they do their ai transformations in the background i will get the questions but before i get the questions I will show what I do.
I created this concept called CVS code. While doing all these transformations, I managed to create a concept called CVS code.
In the core, what it does is I have around 200 repositories on GitHub that I published. They are all working projects. They are written by AI, prompted by AI, and I have done various commits on them. So it is not just AI doing the work, but it is somebody working on it and committing regularly on it.
So it is a heavy project on AI that somebody has all these commits that is happening, that's learning new skills all day long. So you guys will be able to go in and check it out on github
Transformation to be able to do it how you guys are gonna do I create courses for Coursera if you guys are interested also on udemy as well to be able to do it
I created a framework for people to be able to do these solutions. I called it a delivery pilot.
For somebody to be able to create 200 repositories on different languages, not only one language, on different languages, you have to be able to use the AI because learning TypeScript takes five years. Learning SQL properly takes 10 years. Learning data modeling takes X years, but we do not have that much time.
We need this AI is coming and we need to make sure that we increase our skills fastly and be able to demonstrate it in a way that the customer can see, what the customer, the employer can see.
I created this framework. In this framework, there is all these screenshots, all these stages that I'm showing,
that I'm able to turn on a product called SonarQube, which does the technical depth management. In short, all of these repos have a similar structure structure to be able to turn on what I'm doing.
So they all through follow up a similar structure where I do these workshops for the companies so they can do them.
I create this delivery pilot product for them. So I transform the enterprises.
First of all, go to the audience like yourself on the YouTube channel, try to help them to do the AI transformation as a professional, help them, but I also go through these enterprises, so I make sure that they transform themselves into an AI company.
I create these maturity metrics for them. What this means is how they are able to use the AI, if they are able to use the AI.
Right now, people are thinking, where are we going to be in the AI? How are we going to transform ourselves?
so I'm creating an assessment workshops and analysis for them and I'm using it on a daily basis to be able to do what I need to do on here so that is the
critical piece I hope I'm not over time you said 15 minutes
