From Beginner to Power User in Cloud Code

Introduction

Hello everyone, I'm Kamila and day to day I work as a chief of staff at AI Native Startup. It's early stage, VC backed and we are building a dev tool called Shotgun. It's not why I'm here today but in short Shotgun is a tool for AI assisted development but my background is

mechanical engineering and before I move on to the speech I want to say a few things first if you have questions please jump in and ask them because I can't stay after so I won't be available to answer your questions because of the delay we have that's the first thing and second one is that I promised to have no PowerPoint slides so these notes are more for me than for you sorry for that

What You’ll Learn Today

but I'm gonna show you live how to set up cloud and cloud code so I hope you will really have some takeaways from this meetup so circling back my

background is mechanical engineering but one and a half year ago I jumped into AI world and started working at a native startup and before that I used AI like like everyone else so basically like for fancy web search engine but right now

after this more than a year AI is my sparring partner force multiplier second brain and I literally use it more than 20 hours per week on average so there are weeks that I use even for 40 hours per week and what I've seen because I already gave a few demos I saw that showing people where to click actually moves the needle and help overcome the initial barrier how to really start and

start using AI like a second brain so my goal for today is to show you how to use AI like your second brain and that's what I think at least my take is that that's how you are not going to be replaced by AI but you will gain superpowers because AI is never bored never tired and never hesitant to work

with you so today we will cover three areas topics let's say first really

Try Multiple Models, Not Just One

briefly I'm gonna encourage you to try out different models and to stop using them like a fancy search engine then we will segue into system building system that compounds so you learn how to set up projects so you will never start from zero again and AI will have knowledge and context about you and last but not least AI that actually executes things for you so I'm gonna show you

some agentic AI that I use and context here I'm not a deaf I cannot code myself but I can with cloud code so let's get into it and as I said I want to encourage you like of course we don't have time right now because I have only 15 minutes to go over each of these models individually but I really

encourage you to not default to chat GPT but try out all of these four see what are the possibilities features capabilities of these models what is the the style of the output because they vary.

They are not same and it's like some people use Safari for example as a web search engine, some people use Google Chrome and I for example have Arc.

So it's like all of them are web search engines as here all of them are LLMs but the workflow is pretty different.

and today we are going to focus on cloud so we will see some features but it may be a quick question just to read the room how many of you actually used an LLM beyond chat GPT okay so almost everyone but on a default like on a

day -to -day basis do you only use chat GPT or other models like we can we keep like a conversation not only a speech mix okay so you are familiar with various models not only chatGPT perfect so you are already ahead of I think 80 % of

people at least so step one I encourage you to try out different models see

Context Over Prompts

their possibilities capabilities and etc but no matter the model context is the most important thing and you have to learn how to provide proper context and knowledge to really have a sparring partner in AI and I bet you that you

have already heard about phrases, buzz phrases like golden prompt for X, here is my prompt for Y or etc and even if you copy it, paste into an LLM and get a decent output next day you are going to start from zero again so that's why I

think that it's really important to start building systems not work with prompts and on prompts and on things called prompt engineering so you can imagine there is a comparison that if you hired a really smart assistant like

human assistant would you really not onboard them like give no dogs no no no guide on your style of outputs and etc no you would onboard them you would share your dogs your thoughts your everything and same should apply to AI

so the problem here is that doing this every single time requires a lot of time and you would end up spending more time actually preparing things then working

Build Systems That Compound

so step two at least my take is that should be to learn how to set up projects once good systems and then benefit from compound so I'm going to

Personal Board of Advisors Project

show you right now on an example how to set up a project aka personal board or of advisors.

Maybe you have heard about this concept. It's from Harvard Business Review. Forget mentors, employ a personal board of directors.

So basically it's a concept that you become the average of five person you surround yourself with, right?

So if you have AI, you can pick top five person you want to talk to more often.

I already prepped everything so I'm gonna pull up cloud.

Maybe let me start again because I want to show you the initial screen.

Okay so same probably some of you are already familiar with this one.

Key Features to Explore

Here are some features that you should play around with like for example I use this writing styles pretty often but there

are also like other connectors you can connect cloud to canva linear or other things we are not going to cover it today but I just want to bring it up.

So

So I want to set up a project that will be my personal board of advisors. So I want to have a coach slash mentor slash someone available 24 per 7 who is going to answer my questions and who is never going to be tired.

Setting Up Your Project: Prompt + Context

So I prepped to set up a project you need two things. basically you need to go to projects, new project, let's say personal board of advisors, I'm not gonna type it here and I also prepped a system prompt for us so

to set up a project you need two things, system prompt and you need context. Context we will build later, here's a prompt it's pretty long so people usually freeze when they see such a long prompt but the tip here is that

you can just go to NLLM whichever you want and tell it that you want to work on a system prompt to build your personal board of advisors it's gonna ask you a few questions who are you who should be in your board of advisors

because as you can see here for example in my board there is Naval Ravikant Sam Altman, Jeff Bezos, Charlie Menger, and Alex Humorozzi. It's a made up one, not my actual, but it works same.

So we're gonna paste it here, create project. And what I, yeah, you mean this writing style? Your style for writing for outputs? That's one approach, but I'm just saying you.

no it's like for me here I just prompted Claude to act as my personal board of advisors so whenever I ask a question I want to get take from everyone from my board okay but you can like it's up to you right you can build a new thing more

like guardrails sometimes you'll get weird long wing whatever things I guess the question is how do you control for that if that's probably the prompt is

I advise you to start simple and assess outputs and whenever you see that something is wrong with the outputs and you have to course correct AI just add it to prompt instead of asking AI oh no I asked for something else blah blah for

Adding Your Personal Knowledge Base

a second or third time okay so coming back here is where you should put

put some knowledge about you. And I've done it once.

I'm not going to show you my project,

but I can tell you that things that you can add here are CV, list of your goals, personality tests, Gallup tests, vision of your life, anti -vision, your own description, basically whatever is needed to provide proper context about yourself.

How the Context Pays Off

So how it pays off? It pays off because next time you're going to ask question let's imagine you are

sitting on the fence and you don't know if you should go for option A or option B in your life whatever it is like literally whatever you are thinking about in the current moment you can go to cloud personal board of advisor and

ask it questions if it's up to you how much of personal information you are gonna share. My take is that it doesn't matter there are 8 billion people in the world so I personally don't care about my like I don't think so that someone is

going to use it especially that if you have for example paid version and especially enterprise paid version so under company AI cannot train their their models on your data. So just a heads up.

So yes, you can always refine it. So I advise you to start simple and I really encourage you to build a project like this.

It does not have to be personal board of advisor. It's just an example.

You can work on the context about your company. So provide knowledge about your company, what you're working on right now,

What is your side hustle that you are working on?

Basically, whatever the thing here is that once you build up this context you can leverage it later And you do not have to Tell AI who you are what you are working on and etc

Yes, so that's it when it comes to project questions no questions, okay

From Guidance to Execution: Claude Code

Okay, right now I would like to show you cloud code. Basically, I think that cloud code is a tool that everyone should use more because cloud code is agentic AI.

It's not AI that is going to tell you how to do something. It can also do some things for you.

And I also prepped some examples so we can go over it now. Now, it's really simple.

Setup: Terminal or Web, Your Choice

I know that some people might be hesitant to use it, because it runs in your terminal. It's also possible to run it on your web and use web version.

But I really encourage you to try out this terminal one, because it's really easy to set it up.

Installing and Launching Claude Code

So to show you, and I'm going to remind you one more time, I'm not technical I'm not deaf but it's really easy you just have to go to official cloud website get cloud code copy paste in your terminal hit enter

and it's going to be set up right now I personally prefer to use Visual Studio but it's just a matter of preferences it's also terminal but there is really nothing scary about it terminal new terminal and right now I hope you see it

well I just have to type in cloud hit enter it asks me for permission to get access to files in my home directory so yes of course proceed and here it is we we have access to cloud code in this terminal and here installation failed.

No idea why. But let's see if it works. Okay, yeah, it works.

I'm going to use this VS Code terminal because I think it's better in terms of visibility.

No? Okay.

Business Use Cases, Not Just Dev

So I prepped a few examples to show So how you can use cloud code in business context not only in dev context because of course the name is pretty weird because it's not only for coding.

Right now cloud has access to my directory so I can tag files that are in my directory. Let's say I want to work on a file called stargazers. I'm not gonna pull it up right now. I just want to show you how you can tag files here

Okay, so time for a few examples first Really easy one the easiest one.

Example 1: Free Up Disk Space Automatically

How can I clear some storage on my computer?

You can imagine that whenever I you would ask for example cloth for this I would get instructions step one one, empty your trash, step two, do this, step three something.

But I can also ask Claude to not only give me instructions but also do this for me and execute this task.

He's going to think for a while so in the meantime we are going to pull up another terminal and work on something else.

I promised to give some business context so I want to show you examples and actually inspire you a bit so you can come up with your own

examples how something can be done basically my take here is that whenever you are looking for a tool to do something you should try doing it with cloud code or I don't know with codecs from OpenAI if you have paid

subscription of OpenAI or with anti -gravity if you have Gemini model doesn't matter it's just cloud code is go -to tool for me so that's why I'm showing an example with cloud code.

Example 2: Generate High-Quality Leads from Open Data

Second example is finding high quality leads so I found an open source repo and I live in an AI development world so So let's say that it's not my competitor, but let's assume it is.

And as you can see, here are stargazers. So if there is 13 ,000 stargazers of my competitors, so I can assume if these people are interested in this tool, they will be also interested in my tool but of course I'm not gonna click on each

profile individually and scrape the data so let's ask cloud code to do that this for us so yes proceed maybe I have it no I don't I want to scrape stargazers of this repo okay it's gonna think for a while so let's come back here as you can

see I got some instructions quick wins blah blah blah but also would you like help with any specific area yes and I think I'm running out of time so not sure if I'm gonna finish this but I can promise you that I've already done it twice and I didn't delete any of file myself coming back here do you want to proceed yes of course I want to proceed in the meantime while it's working I'm

going to show you another example is just inspire you because as I said we have not so much time so I can't run each example myself but I can tell you what are the examples so we can find some that may suit your needs so other

More Examples to Spark Ideas

ones are for example picking a random raffle winner from a Google sheet or submissions let's assume you have a CSV I can't hear you I can like I can show you that I can later yeah yes that's why it's so powerful yeah I'm gonna show you

in a sec get all stay here are the first 100 stygers is all blah blah blah get all stay it depends because they have to provide facebook email or linkedin in their in their profiles so

i've never tried it i've never used meta advertisements but you can for example scrape the data, create a CSV file, pass it on to meta and set up an outreach campaign. Yes, I've done it not for meta campaigns but yes.

yeah yes so let's see that let's say that we want we want to also scrape

emails yeah so let's see in the meantime coming back there another examples of how to use cloud code to help you and execute tasks instead of only getting instructions you can analyze meeting notes and get some for example sales

lessons you can organize your files and for example what's also I really recommend you to try out this one getting inspiration from competitors ads

so basically if you can if you have if you can connect your code base and point point cloud code to your code base to scrape it and, not scrape it, just to learn about it, what you are working on.

Later, you can ask questions like, for example, give me five competitors. Let's imagine I got five competitors.

So right now, let's get some inspiration and extract ads from competitors to find the problem use case or copy assets that's working for them so basically cloud code is going to do it and run some agents to perform this task for you and one thing to uh sorry coming back yes

i want to proceed basically usually i don't even read it i just click yes yes Okay, coming back.

Practical Tips and Considerations

For non -technical people, I know that you might be pretty hesitant to use it because it's terminal, but as I show you, it's not scary. It's just a terminal, another interface in another way of working but that's all so important

consideration mostly must like private rate limits yes yeah but you're gonna pay for it because it's usage based pricing sometimes right or you have some limits but I I did it I scraped 46 ,000 I'm not sure if I should say that in front of the camera like yes first that's the first point and second one is

that I can scrape it if they are public I cannot come up with them I can do some I don't know magic

Because you know, let's come back for a sec here and let's check out these profiles. So What I would do manually manually, I would click on each profile.

Okay, no email here. Let's check out another one Okay

Okay, sorry, sorry, sorry, sir. I missed that. Yeah

Easy like it's going to be scraped but the thing here is that if the email is here and it's public there is no need to worry about that right you can just scrape it and yes yes okay so I really

Wrapping Up

run run over time so in summary step one try different models and start building systems instead of working on prompts solely. Build system that compounds.

I encourage you to start working on projects.

Projects That Save You Time

I myself have three projects. One for my personal things, one from shotgun related things and one for my side hustle related things and it really helps because I don't have to explain myself each time I want to work on something.

Become a Power User of Claude Code

And last most important thing for me is that cloud code is not just for devs there are so many examples online how you can really leverage cloud code properly if

you hit me up on LinkedIn here is my QR code I can send you a link to I think free course for PM's for cloud code but basically there you have some instructions and the most important thing that is that you can actually ask Cloud Code how to work with Cloud Code.

So I want to become a power user of Cloud Code. Help me.

It's going to provide you a lot of instructions beyond that you can just hit slash help and see what's possible like of course it's not gonna run right now because I hit another comment but I think you get the point right and it took me 20 minutes so I think I'm done
