To the Practical AI Summit by Mindstone and Human X. My name is Stefano Piano. I'm a VP of partnerships at Mindstone.
Did you like this song, the last song? So this was AI generated.
I'm also a poet in my spare time. So I took a poem I made and made a song out of it. And I think this is the sort of thing that we like to do at Mindstone.
connect with AI thinks that maybe they shouldn't be now there's gonna be a hands -on session and you're gonna have to sweat for the refreshments metaphorically and we get started straight away with a show of hands who
thinks that AI will change the way we work in the next five to ten years all All right, you came to the live conference, congratulations. Now, who feels ready to lead that change?
All right, so everyone in the room, compare it to three, four hands. I wanna talk to you, by the way,
we probably know something that we don't, but you're not the exception. There is evidence in this.
1There was an MIT study that found that 95 % of AI pilots fail. 95%. 19 out of 20.
And this fits with my experience.
I was working for the OECD, an international organization in Paris.
My job in the last 10 years before joining Milestone was to give advice to governments, corporations, and education institutions on the future of education and work and over and over again I found that organizations just
thought that technology would integrate like magic you put in the organization and it works it's like a smartphone guess what that's wrong it's it's simple
but as our CEO would say and he would have loved to be here but he had some and family commitments, so he sends his best regards, 1technology doesn't adopt itself.
This is precisely what we aim to do at Mindstone. We offer an AI transformation service that helps organization to get the 5 % of AI initiatives that deliver impact.
We are based in the UK, but we work a lot in the US. 50 % of our activity is actually in the in the US.
We have been around for five years.
We have 10 of the Fortune 100 as clients, Hyatt, Home Depot, Delta. work with clients we typically help organizations to save seven hours per week per employee.
When we
But this is not a pitching session, this is a practical session.
And what we are going to be doing today is to show you some practical workflows that you can bring home and use already tomorrow or next week after the conference is over.
And we are also going to help you feel more empowered to orchestrate an AI transformation in your company. company.
I realize that that sounds an ambitious objective, but we are lucky enough to have the best AI coaches in the world delivering this session. It's a real dream team.
I'm also there. Kenny, you should have gotten me a nose. I look about 16 and I have no nose.
that's not a good start but let me introduce them briefly and strictly in order of appearance because they are all differently awesome Kenny he you can tell because it looks like you right you made an effort for you you didn't make
an effort for me Kenny he has delivered sessions for some of the best organizations in the world ESPN Amazon Google and he just has this incredible ability of bringing senior leaders together so little cheer for for Kenny
then we're gonna have Jeremy author of the idea flow co -host of beyond the prompt one of the best if not the best AI podcast in the world cheer for Jeremy me.
Then we are going to have Devin. Devin has worked with many of the big tech players delivering innovation workshops.
He has also created a methodology that is called productive play, right? That basically allows people to do serious work in a very joyful and lighthearted in fashion. Cheers for David.
Marina, our executive AI coach. So she's a veteran of transformation journeys. She has worked for four organizations already as chief people officer, and she has turned them around in high -performance workplaces where every employee was empowered to get things done. And she's doing the same within Mindstorm.
And Bill, coach at the Stanford D School and Harvard Continuing Education. It just is incredible at making people do creative things with technology. For Marina and Bill, a little cheer.
Guys, it's 100 years of high -quality coaching experience in the room. So we are in a very privileged position, myself included, because I don't get to see these guys together together most of the time.
Now, to kick things off, I want you to take a post -it. You should have post -its on the table. And I want you to write down what's the biggest thing holding AI back in your organization right now.
Then you hold onto it, and we are going to make use of that in a little moment. And without much further ado, take 30, 60 seconds, then Kenny will walk us through the session.
Hi, everyone. I'm Kenny. So excited to be here. All right.
Let me tell you what we're going to be doing today, because we've got, like Stefano said, a lot of amazing demos for you all today. Here's how today is going to work.
We got started a little bit late because we know some people are taking time to get their badges.
But in Act 1 today, we're going to be doing the art of the possible. And the way we designed this is a couple different things. One, we want to show you what's available right now that everyone can start doing.
And let's be honest. When you're trying to design a session like this, we've got some people who are, like, very far on the curve. And we've got some people who are just starting out. And so I just ask for some patience as we work through this because we want to kind of get everybody up to the same page.
but then in the latter half of that part we're gonna also do what we think you're gonna see in organizations in six to twelve months and so some organizations you might have some of this right now but this is we really want to give you
all a peek of what's gonna be possible really quickly for your team because again I think we need to be planning not to how to catch up to today but how can we be thinking six to twelve months ahead of time then we're gonna have a
short break that we have around 240 245 ish till three in the second part of the
the day, act two, we're going to be talking more about how do you integrate AI into your organization.
And so we've got lots of cool learnings, again, from just all the organizations we've been working with over the years.
And then just kind of a final networking and coaching session if people have questions for the last 30 minutes.
Now, there are, because this is a practical AI summit moment, here's how you get the most out of today.
So first of all, be honest with where you're at, right? Like we do a lot of coaching calls.
And sometimes people are like, like, oh, I'm so advanced, and then they're kind of like, oh, honestly, like, I haven't even set up my, you know, my first GPT yet, and that's okay.
Like, the more you're honest with where you're at, I think you'll find a lot of people are there, right? And some of us kind of, like, we rise in certain areas, and then we're kind of like, oh, I haven't ever, I've never run a deep
research report, right? And so, like, it's okay if you're feeling a little bit like, I don't know if I'm as advanced as the other people. Be honest.
The other is lean in and participate. What's What's really nice is in designing an AI session, we actually added in a lot of analog sessions where you're going to connect with people.
We know it's a big part of conferences as well. So we just ask that you lean in and participate.
And then in the latter half of the day, we just kind of assumed most people have one of the AI agents on their phone where we're going to have you all go on a walk and talk and actually do a conversation with AI with a certain prompt we give you.
If you don't, don't worry about it because we can have you talk with a real person as as a thought partner, but ideally during the break, if you don't have ChatGPT or Clod or something downloaded, you can download that on your phone. OK.
With that said, if everyone can turn, oh, hold on, let me get down here real quick. On tables, can I grab this really quickly? There should be a sheet like this.
This is meant to be worked on in pairs, OK? Here's what we'd love for you all to do, is in pairs, pairs, or threes, if it makes sense, we want you to list out as many answers you can to these two questions as possible.
So in the first box, it's like, today, I use AI to blank, all right? And then in pairs, just try to write down as many things that you're currently using AI to do in your job. And I'd love it if you could get specific, right?
It could be like, summarize outcomes of meetings from transcripts. The more generic you are, like, I use it for strategy. Like that feels pretty generic. Like how can you make that a little bit more concrete for us?
And then tomorrow I haven't figured out how to use AI yet for yet is blank But I wish I could write like maybe there's a multi -agent workflow for research, you know on a specific topic And again what you might find when you're pairing is somebody might have something like oh today I'm using it for blank, but your partner might be like, oh my god
I don't can we put that in the tomorrow section too? And that's okay All right, like we expect people to be in different places.
So you have about eight minutes to do this So I expect the room to get kind of loud again do your best for the folks in the back who don't have a table I'm so sorry that you don't have something to write on. I hope you all can figure that out
But all right eight minutes on the clock. I'll give you a halfway warning Fill out as many as you can and oh good handwriting because we're gonna use this in a bit
