From Screenshot to Prototype in 15 Minutes: My AI Design Workflow by Pepy Meli
Most of the time between identifying a UX problem and building the fix isn't spent designing — it's spent handing off. In this demo, I'll show you what I replaced them with: a workflow where capturing a user flow, prototyping the redesign, and comparing it to the real product happen in one working day, not one sprint. And at the end, the part I'm most excited about: cutting out the middle entirely, and transforming the actual product directly, using natural language.

In February, a US missile destroyed a girls' elementary school in Iran. The targeting system was built by Palantir, embedded Anthropic's Claude, and ran inside a Pentagon programme called Maven. Humans were in the loop. They approved the strike. The same failure mode — at lower stakes — is operating today in loan approvals, hiring decisions, content moderation, benefits assessments, and medical triage. Regulation demands a human in the loop. Most loops are theatre. Drawing on Roger Steare's framework for moral decision-making, this talk argues that the fix is not a better interface but a better approach — one that fails if any of three layers is missing. Prepare the reviewer. The conditions of judgment — volume, time, incentives, psychological safety — must allow reflection before any decision is shown. Decide through three lenses. Most interfaces afford only Law (rules, policies). The missing lenses are Love (who is helped or harmed) and Logic (facts, assumptions, consequences). Test the outcome. Reviewers must learn what happened, or they cannot calibrate — and the system cannot learn either. You'll leave with an audit for your own HITL pipeline at all three layers, and a clear position on which AI decisions humans can meaningfully review at all — and which they cannot.
