Mindstone London September AI Meetup

Welcome to the biggest Practical AI Meetup in London!

Join us once a month as we explore the world of artificial intelligence, its cutting-edge practical applications, and the astonishing projects that are shaping our future.

Why should you attend?

  • Get up close and personal with the AI projects that are redefining the boundaries of technology and human potential.
  • Learn from the brightest minds in the field and gain valuable insights into the ever-evolving AI landscape.
  • Unleash your curiosity, fuel your creativity, and expand your network as you connect with fellow AI aficionados and pioneers.

What you can expect?

Mindstone events consist of three talks covering different aspects:

  • What I Learned Building With LLMs: A technical talk breaking down the process for building a product using AI with real-life learnings and insights.
  • How To Be More Productive Using AI: A practical demo and step-by-step guide on how to use AI to speed up and improve tasks.
  • What Does The Future Look Like With AI?: A theoretical talk on the impact of AI on work, life and society.

After the talks we'll have pizza, drinks, and time to connect with everyone around you.

Don't miss the opportunity to see what's really happening in AI - you'll be surprised at what's already possible today.

We have limited spots available, so get your ticket ahead of time to avoid disappointment!

Welcome and event introduction
Me use caveman skill. Me think big. Me save big. by Jason Holloway
Every conversation you have with an LLM gets quietly more expensive - and not in the way most people think. It's not just that you're sending more messages - each new message replays the entire chat so far. It's how LLMs maintain context as they work. Output tokens cost several times more than input tokens, and they compound on every round. By turn ten, you're paying for the same fluff dozens of times over. Enter Caveman: a \~70-line Claude Code skill from Julius Brussee that makes Claude talk like a smart caveman - articles, hedging, and pleasantries gone, technical accuracy fully intact. Real-world result: roughly 75% fewer output tokens for the same answer. In 15 minutes I'll show how token growth actually works (worse than linear), demo the skill live, and unpack why a caveman conversation is one of the most effective cost levers I've found this year. Bring your wallet. Leave your articles, adverbs, and "I'd be happy to help" at the door.
What Happens When You Make Kindness a Technical Constraint by shiva shanmukh
AI can make life easier, but it can also create more information to absorb, more choices to make and more pressure to keep up. For people with ADHD, anxiety or neurodivergence, that complexity can quickly become overwhelming. Shiva Shanmukh built JANIS because he needed a different kind of support. In this talk, he’ll explore what it means to design AI around compassion, clarity and human attention, showing how an overwhelming task can be turned into a few calm, manageable steps.
Can AI Fact-Check What You Say in Real Time? by Kayla Nahi
What if AI could listen to someone speaking, understand what they’re saying and flag incorrect claims as they happen? In this live demo, we’ll show a simple version of a real-world fact-checking workflow using Mistral’s audio models. Voxtral will transcribe speech in real time, an LLM will compare the claims against a trusted source of information, and the results will be surfaced with the evidence behind each correction. We’ll break down the surprisingly small number of components needed to make it work, then look beyond the demo at what changes when you deploy systems like this in the real world - drawing on Mistral’s work with a large european manufacturing company and its media businesses. You’ll leave with an idea of what audio AI can now do with live audio, where it can be useful beyond fact-checking, and some of the challenges that appear when a cool prototype has to become a dependable product.
