When the Old Constraints Disappear : Work and Creativity in the Age of AI by John Samuel
For decades, computing has been shaped by scarcity: limited processing, rigid interfaces, sequential workflows, and human attention as a bottleneck. My own experiments in revisiting computational models once considered too expensive to explore keep pointing to the same realization: those constraints no longer hold. Natural language becomes an interface, agents explore in parallel, and goals replace procedures. What does this mean for work, expertise, and creativity when computation becomes abundant, but human judgment and meaning do not?
